Armorer (ARM)
  • Armorers treat and work the malleable metals of Eorzea into all forms of armor. By binding together sheet, stud, and link, they are able to produce garb of plate and chain that has saved the lives of countless adventurers. Though the armor trade once fell within the realm of blacksmithing, advancements in both metallurgical techniques and material refinement led to its necessary specialization, and it is now recognized as an official profession by all nations.

Armorer's take their chosen metal, then heat, hammer, and bend until they achieve a desired shape and thickness. There is, however, much more to the process. An armorer needs to learn how to work materials of varying hardness, such as bronze and iron. And shaping them into gauntlets, shields, and helmets is no easy task.

Armorers must direct their blows with strength and surety, but an armorer needs delicacy. Without that, it wouldn't be long before tiny flaws crept in to compromise the defensive strength of the plate.

H'naaza, the Armorer guildmaster and head of Naldq & Vymelli's sums up being an armorer as, "We make works of art with flame and steel, and there's never a day that I'm not damn proud to be an armorer."
